Together, with the generous financial support of their sponsors and attendees of the 31st Annual Red River Mutual Golf Tournament, Red River Mutual raised over $25,000 for Manitoba burn survivors and their families. The tournament was held on June 12, 2019 at Pine Ridge Golf Course in Winnipeg.

“For many years now, our company has been a dedicated supporter of the Firefighters’ Burn Fund because we understand the importance of the work they do serving burn survivors and their families here in Manitoba,” said Brian Esau, President and CEO of Red River Mutual. “Over the last 30 years, we’ve been able to raise over $125,000 for the Firefighters’ Burn Fund largely through the proceeds from this annual golf tournament and, more recently, from the support of our generous tournament sponsors. We know that the contributions of our supporters are due, in no small part, to the valuable efforts of the Burn Fund and the dedicated men and women of our province’s fire service. As a leading insurer on the prairies, we are committed to doing our small part by standing behind the Firefighters’ Burn Fund as they continue their important work.”

“As a volunteer-run organization, the Firefighters’ Burn Fund relies solely on the generous support of private and corporate sponsors and fundraising events such as Red River Mutual’s annual golf tournament,” said Jim Abram, Chair of the Firefighters’ Burn Fund. “To firefighters, there is no greater measure of courage than burn patients struggling to survive devastating injuries. These initiatives go a long way in enabling the Burn Fund to make a difference in the lives of burn survivors and their families.”.

Red River Mutual is also a major sponsor of the S.A.F.E. (Smoke Alarm For Every) Family Program in conjunction with the Firefighters’ Burn Fund of Manitoba, the Office of the Fire Commissioner, and the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service. The goal of this program is to see a smoke alarm properly installed in all Manitoba homes. The funds raised through the 31st Annual Golf Red River Mutual Golf Tournament will help support this initiative.
