A 39-year-old Brandon, Manitoba man is facing numerous charges, including assaulting a police officer, after being recently arrested by Russell RCMP.

On June 24, 2019, at approximately 2pm, Russell RCMP received a report of an assault and robbery that occurred in the community. Police say that a 56-year-old male stated that a 39-year-old male had assaulted him, threatened him and stole some of his belongings.

While officers were on scene, the suspect arrived and began to hit the windows of the police vehicle in an attempt to break them. Officers attempted to arrest the suspect but he resisted and became combative. A conducted energy weapon was deployed and police were eventually able to subdue the suspect and arrest him.

Police noted that while the suspect was in custody at the Russell Detachment, he damaged the cell block area which resulted in additional charges.

RCMP report that Michael Man of Brandon has been charged with multiple offences including robbery, assaulting a police officer, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and mischief.
