Arborg RCMP recently responded to a fatal two-vehicle collision at a location on Highway 7, approximately five kilometres south of Fraserwood.

On December 8, 2019, at approximately 3:15pm, Arborg RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 7 at the intersection of Road 107 North, located approximately five kilometres south of Fraserwood, in the RM of Armstrong.

Police investigation determined that a pickup truck, being driven by a 23-year-old male from the RM of St. Andrews, was traveling west on Road 107 North when it entered the intersection and collided with a southbound minivan. The minivan was being driven by a 66-year-old male from Winnipeg.

Police say that the 23-year-old male driver and passenger of the pickup suffered only minor injuries and were treated on scene by EMS. The minivan was carrying six occupants at the time of the collision. A 38-year-old male passenger, from Fisher River, was pronounced deceased at the scene after he was ejected from the vehicle. The remaining occupants of the minivan were transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP report that the 23-year-old driver of the pickup truck was arrested on scene and taken into police custody. He was later released with numerous court imposed conditions and scheduled to appear in court at a later date on charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and five counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.
