Following provincial guidelines, Hanover School Division (HSD) has announced a limited reopening of schools within the division beginning June 1, 2020.

The Province of Manitoba has released its draft plan for Phase-2 of Restoring Safe Services – Manitoba’s Pandemic Economic Roadmap for Recovery. Included within the plan is the limited reopening of schools, to allow for assessment and transition support.

HSD says that the reopening of schools is very encouraging news and a positive first step. Schools will reopen with limited access beginning Monday, June 1, 2020.

As outlined by the province, the primary purpose of reopening is to support students, focusing on assessment and transition into the next school year. Students will have the opportunity to reconnect in-person, as needed, with their teachers. HSD notes that the health and safety of students, their families, and staff will continue to guide their planning.

Student academic programming will continue in its current format, delivered remotely using digital media and print materials. Learning at Home will wind down in mid-June. Classroom learning will remain suspended for the remainder of the school year.
