The body of a 51-year-old missing snowmobiler has been located after the victim was reported missing this past week.

On December 1, 2016 at 10pm, Nelson House RCMP were advised that a 51-year-old adult male was overdue from a planned snowmobile trip. As a result, officers and a community member immediately commenced a search for the individual.

Police say that search members found a snowmobile track which led to an area of open water on a lake. Due to the condition of the ice and the presence of open water, a further search of the lake surface was not possible. RCMP, with the assistance of the community, continued a search of the surrounding land area.

At approximately 2:30pm, on December 4, Nelson House RCMP, along with the assistance of the Cross Lake Community Fire Department, located the body of the missing man. Preliminary investigation has determined that the deceased broke through the ice on his snowmobile.
