A Brandon Police Service (BPS) officer has been charged with voyeurism.

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) was notified of the matter and commenced an investigation into an allegation in April 2019. The investigation determined that the alleged incident occurred without the knowledge and consent of the victim.

Civilian Director Zane Tessler is satisfied there are reasonable grounds to believe a criminal offence occurred and accordingly has authorized a charge of voyeurism, pursuant to section 162(1)(c) of the Criminal Code.

As directed by the Criminal Code of Canada, the officer was arrested and released on an undertaking with conditions, including no contact or communication with the victim. The officer will appear in Provincial Court in Brandon on July 7, 2020.
