A Winnipeg man is dead after his car collided with an SUV on Provincial Road 244 North near Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba.

On November 28, 2016, at approximately 1:20pm, Treherne RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Provincial Road 244 North, approximately eight kilometres north of Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba.

Initial police investigation shows a southbound car crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a northbound SUV. The southbound car ended up in the east ditch. The 62-year-old male driver of the southbound vehicle, from Winnipeg, was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The 33-year-old female driver of the northbound vehicle, from the RM of Norfolk Treherne, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP report that weather conditions are considered a contributing factor in the collision. The road was slush-covered and it was snowing at the time.

An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
