The City of Steinbach is aware of the promotion of an anti-mask rally currently being circulated in the community and strongly advises all residents to follow Public Health orders.

“At this time, the City has not been contacted by any rally organizers,” said City of Steinbach Mayor Earl Funk. “We have received no application for a facility rental or parade permit from anyone.”

Under current Provincial Public Health orders social gatherings are not permitted. The City asks that all residents follow all provincial orders to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

The province states that fines for breaching or failing to comply with public health or emergency orders have recently been increased to $1,296 for individuals and $5,000 for corporations.

“Now more than ever is the time for our community to come together and support each other,” said Mayor Funk. “We need compassion for the people who have suffered loss in this pandemic and we need to show our support for the health care workers who are tirelessly working to save us from it.”

Mayor Funk indicated that City Council is listening to residents and asks that as a community we act and respond to each other with compassion.
