A 45-year-old man was recently transported to hospital after being shot as the result of a hunting accident at a location east of Malonton, Manitoba.
On November 11, 2020, at approximately 7:20am, Arborg and Gimli RCMP received a report of a hunting accident that occurred in a field across from Provincial Road 11 East, just east of Malonton, Manitoba.
Upon arrival, officers noted that EMS were already on scene preparing to transport a 45-year-old male to Winnipeg hospital with a gunshot wound.
Initial police investigation has determined that two hunters, the victim and a 41-year-old male, were inside a wooden hunting blind on the treeline looking onto the field. The two men were preparing to hunt for the day while watching a deer in the middle of the field. During this time, a white pickup truck pulled up and parked at the entrance to the field. Two male hunters, both were wearing orange, exited the vehicle. Shots were fired at the deer in the field which resulted in the shots entering the hunting blind causing one of the hunters in the blind to be struck by one of the bullets.
Police say that the victim’s injuries are non-life threatening.
RCMP are looking for the two individuals who were in the truck, believed to be an older model white Chevrolet pickup truck.
