RCMP have arrested two individuals after they were found to be in possession of a large quantity of illegal tobacco products.
On January 14, 2021, at approximately 4pm, Brandon RCMP, along with the Roving Traffic Unit, conducted a traffic stop on Highway 1 in the RM of Whitehead.
Police say that a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of illegal tobacco products.
RCMP report that a 44-year-old female and 23-year-old male, both from Grande Prairie, Alberta, were arrested in this incident. Both are facing charges of possession of unstamped tobacco under the Criminal Code, Excise Act 2001, Tax Administration and Miscellaneous Taxes Act.
The individuals were released from police custody and are scheduled for a later court appearance in Brandon.
