A 46-year-old Beausejour area man has recently died after the the semi truck he was a passenger in was struck by a train at a railroad crossing in the Rural Municipality of Brokenhead, Manitoba.

On May 24, 2021, at approximately 4pm, Beausejour RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving a train and a semi at a location on PR 44 E, between PR 68N and PR 69N in the RM of Brokenhead. Police noted that the semi had no trailer attached at the time of the incident.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed a male victim being extracted from the semi. The victim, a 46-year-old man from the area, was pronounced deceased on scene.

Police investigation determined that the semi was traveling north on PR 44 E. The truck had stopped at the railroad crossing, and then proceeded through the intersection being struck by the train as a result.

RCMP report that the semi was being driven by a 16-year-old-male, who was receiving driver training in the vehicle at the time of the collision. RCMP noted that the driver received non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.

An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
