Six people in Steinbach recently received fines totalling over $7000, after breaking public health orders by gathering on a Main Street parking lot.

Steinbach RCMP have recently been receiving complaints about people gathering and breaking public health orders at a local parking lot located on Main Street in Steinbach.

On June 2, 2021, Steinbach RCMP officers attended the parking lot in question and observed multiple people gathering, not wearing masks and disobeying the provincial public health orders. Police say that few  people and cars left when police arrived, with several remained gathering.

RCMP report that the current public health orders do not allow any outdoor gathering. As a result, six people were fined $1296 for disobeying the orders.

Steinbach RCMP continue to enforce public health orders locally and fines will be issued as needed.
