The Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) has concluded its investigation into an allegation of a driving offence against an on-duty member of the RCMP between Niverville and St. Pierre-Jolys.

The civilian director of the IIU has determined there are reasonable grounds to believe an offence occurred under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

As a result of the investigation, an officer has been issued a summons for July 27, 2021, in St. Pierre-Jolys Provincial Court for driving carelessly contrary to s.188(2) of the HTA.

The IIU issued a news release on January 15, 2021, advising that it had launched an investigation into the incident.

This matter is now before the courts and the civilian director’s report on the investigation will be released following disposition of the charges.
