A St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP vehicle recently collided with a pickup truck at a location on Highway 59. The officers were responding to a high priority call at the time of the incident.

On September 10, 2021, at approximately 6:30pm, St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP were responding to a high priority call. As a result, the unmarked police vehicle was traveling north on Highway 59 with emergency equipment activated. The police vehicle then entered the intersection of Provincial Road 311 and Highway 59 on a red light, resulting in the collision with an eastbound pickup truck.

RCMP report that one of the officers in the vehicle was transported to local hospital where he was treated for minor physical injuries and later released. The female driver of the pickup truck was transported to Winnipeg hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.

The police vehicle was equipped with a camera and an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation. The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba has also been notified of the collision.

Police noted that at the time of the collision, a separate police vehicle was dispatched to the initial call officers were responding to.
