A 20-year-old Steinbach man was heavily fined after speeding through a school zone. The fine comes as a result of a recent school zone targeted traffic enforcement campaign conducted by Steinbach RCMP within the RM of Hanover, RM of La Broquerie and the City of Steinbach.

Police say that on September 15, 2021 at approximately 3pm, a vehicle was observed traveling 60km/h in a posted 30km/h zone in front of the entrance to an elementary school. A traffic stop was initiated and further investigation revealed that the driver, a 20-year-old Steinbach man, had a suspended driver’s licence. The vehicle was also found to be unregistered.

RCMP rerport that the driver was fined $1,412 for speeding, driving while disqualified and driving an unregistered vehicle. The vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days as a result.

Steinbach RCMP remind the public that school is back in session and posted school zone speed limits are in place and enforced for the safety of the children.
