Police Service Dog Jolt was called to assist in an investigation involving a serious assault on a 41-year-old Portage la Prairie man. The incident occurred at a business located on Saskatchewan Avenue West in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.

On September 27, 2021, at approximately 12:16am, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report of a male victim who was assaulted with a weapon behind a local business.

Police say that two suspects were seen fleeing from the location, one on foot and the other on a bike.

Officers attended the scene and located the injured victim, a 41-year-old Portage la Prairie man. First aid was provided until Emergency Medical Services arrived and transported him to Winnipeg hospital, where he remains in serious condition with life-threatening injuries.

RCMP Police Dog Services arrived on scene. Police Service Dog Jolt began a track, leading police to recover some evidence as well as a possible last location of the suspects at 10th Street NW and Fisher Avenue.
