Shamattawa RCMP have made four arrests in connection to a recent investigation into the trafficking of illicit drugs withinin Kisematawa First Nation.

On September 26, 2021, as a result of an ongoing investigation into the trafficking of illicit drugs in Kisematawa First Nation, Shamattawa RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence located on Wolf Avenue in the community.

Police say that a search of this residence led to the seizure of over 2,800 pills, including oxycodone, codeine and alprazolam. Officers also seized over 100 grams of cannabis, numerous bottles of vodka and a quantity of Canadian currency.

RCMP report that the investigation led to the arrest of four individuals, a 51-year-old male and three females, ages of 49, 24 and 21, from the community.

It is estimated that the street value of the seized goods to be approximately $105,000 within Kisematawa First Nation.
