A 30-year-old Roseau River First Nation man has died as the result of a recent single-vehicle rollover that occurred near Letellier, Manitoba.

On October 30, 2021, at approximately 5:30pm, Emerson RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle rollover at a location on Provincial Road 201, approximately one kilometre east of Letellier in the RM of Emerson-Franklin.

Police investigation has determined that a westbound vehicle, with four occupants, lost control and left the roadway. The vehicle then entered the ditch and rolled.

RCMP report that two of the occupants, believed to be a female driver and a female passenger, fled the scene on foot. Two male passengers, a 30-year-old and a 41-year-old, both from Roseau River First Nation, were ejected from the vehicle. The 30-year-old was pronounced deceased on scene and the 41-year-old was transported to hospital in serious condition where he remains.

Officers spoke with local residents in the area who provided information as to whom the driver was and where she could be located. The female passenger has yet to be identified.

With the assistance of the Manitoba First Nations Police Service, the 31-year-old female driver was later located at her residence. At 7:30pm, the driver provided a lawful breath demand on an Approved Screening Device (ASD), to which she blew a warning. She was then taken to hospital as it was believed she may have been injured in the collision.

Emerson RCMP, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist and our Criminal Collision Investigation Team, continue to investigate this incident.
