Headingley and Stonewall RCMP recently responded to a three vehicle collision that occurred on the northbound lanes of the Perimeter Highway at Portage Avenue.

Initial police investigation determined that a semi truck had jack-knifed on the Perimeter Highway at Portage Avenue earlier in the morning. A towing company attended and placed one tow truck behind the semi to warn oncoming drivers of the lane closure. The driver of the tow truck was also advising motorists to change lanes with an illuminated wand. A second tow truck was at the front to assist with moving the semi. A northbound semi then proceeded to drive into the rear tow truck.

Police say that the collision caused both the northbound semi and the rear tow truck to strike the jack-knifed semi.

RCMP report that the tow truck driver who was directing traffic, saw the oncoming semi and managed to safely move away from the scene prior to the collision. The tow truck driver did not sustain any physical injuries, but the drivers of both semis sustained injuries and were transported to hospital were they are in stable condition.
