In a joint effort, St. Pierre-Jolys, Oakbank and Morris RCMP were able to locate and arrest a male suspect from Ontario who was involved in a recent armed robbery incident that occurred at a business located at Deacon’s corner on Highway 1.
On August 22, 2025, at 4:30am, Oakbank RCMP responded to an armed robbery at Deacon’s corner. Police say that a male suspect entered the premises showing the employee a firearm and demanded him to unlock the fuel pump. The male then went back outside and quickly left in a yellow pickup truck. Members noted that the employee was not injured.
Later that night, at 10:40pm, Morris RCMP responded to a suspicious vehicle at a location on Road 12 East in the RM of De Salaberry. St. Pierre- Jolys RCMP officers assisted in the search and were able to locate the vehicle.
Members attempted to intercept the pickup truck, but the driver failed to stop and no pursuit was initiated. Soon after, the vehicle was located parked in the middle of a field on Road 25 North. Officers believed it to be the same pickup truck seen at the armed robbery earlier that morning.
RCMP officers with the Emergency Response Team (ERT), Police Dog Service (PDS) and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), all attended the scene and safely apprehended the driver without incident.
Police noted that the recovered vehicle was reported stolen near Dryden, Ontario, and the firearm is believed to have been stolen from St. Narcisse, Québec.
RCMP report that 30-year-old Mitchel Duncan, from Ontario, was arrested and faces numerous assault and firearms related charges in connection to this ongoing investigation.
