A 49-year-old male was recently arrested and charged by RCMP in connection to an incident involving forcible confinement and fleeing from police.

Red River North RCMP were recently notified that a female was held against her will in a vehicle last seen going north on Henderson Highway, in the RM of East St. Paul. Officers from the Red River North Detachment and Eastman Traffic Services began searching for the vehicle, described as a black Chrysler 300.

Police say that the suspect vehicle was located behind a business on Henderson Highway in Lockport. Officer noted that the suspect did not comply with police and fled the scene. Subsequently, a tire deflation device was utilized but failed to stop the vehicle.

Members pursued the suspect vehicle east on Highway 44 to Garson where the pursuit was terminated. Over 25 RCMP officers from 10 detachments, including the RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Police Dog Services (PDS), were involved in the search for the suspect vehicle.

The vehicle was soon after located on a farm property on Highway 12, in the RM of Springfield. The suspect was located inside the vehicle and arrested without incident.

RCMP report that the 38-year-old female victim, who was located a short distance away, sustained minor injuries. The driver, a 49-year-old male, was remanded into custody and will be facing numerous charges related to this incident.
