Statistics Canada’s recent labour force survey shows Manitoba recorded the strongest job growth among the Prairie provinces and the second-highest increase nationally, adding 5,900 jobs in July.
“Adding 5,900 jobs to Manitoba’s economy shows that our government knows how to create good jobs for all Manitobans,” said Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation Minister Jamie Moses. “Despite Trump’s tariffs and ongoing disruptions to global trade, Manitoba is growing, with more opportunities and lower unemployment than our neighbours.”
Manitoba ranked at or near the top in several key indicators, including:
- the lowest unemployment rate in Canada for the fourth month in a row at five per cent,
- the strongest private-sector job growth in Canada,
- the second-best employment growth in Canada, and
- the second-lowest youth unemployment rate in Canada at 10.7 percent.
Manitoba’s labour market remains strong and continues to compare favourably with other provinces, the minister noted.
