A 34-year-old male suspect from the Rural Municipality (RM) of Oakland-Wawanesa was recently arrested and charged while being in possession of multiple illegal firearms.

On August 31, 2026, at approximately 6am, Brandon RCMP, after learning a male suspect was illegally possessing firearms, executed a search warrant at a residence located in the RM of Oakland-Wawanesa.

Brandon RCMP were assisted in executing the warrant by officers from the RCMP Emergency Response Team, the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team (NWEST), and the RCMP West District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST).

As a result of the investigation, RCMP seized six firearms, magazines, a large amount of ammunition and a tactical-style knife from the residence. Three of the firearms, some of the ammunition and one of the magazines were all prohibited weapons.

RCMP report that 34-year-old Bryce McMillan of the RM of Oakland-Wawanesa, was arrested without incident at the residence. McMillan is now facing charges of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon or restricted weapon, possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized, weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization, and failure to comply with a release order condition.

Members noted that McMillan was subsequently released on a release order.
