RCMP Traffic Services are reporting that two suspects from Ontario were recently arrested and charged after a search of their semi truck yielded $50,000 in cash.
On September 29, 2026, at approximately 2:10pm, RCMP Traffic Services pulled over an eastbound semi-truck on the Trans-Canada Highway near Elie. While speaking to the semi’s two occupants, RCMP noted a package of unmarked cigarettes on the dashboard – prompting further inspection of the vehicle. Officers subsequently located a package amongst groceries that contained approximately $50,000 in cash.
Police say that the two suspects were arrested without incident.
RCMP report that a 38-year-old male from Hannon, Ontario, along with a 53-year-old male from Mississauga, Ontario, both are facing charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Members noted that the two individuals were released on an appearance notice, with a court date scheduled for January.
