Stonewall RCMP are reporting that a male suspect from the community has recently been arrested and charged after officers seized a quantity of stolen power tools at a local residence.
On October 9, 2026, at approximately 7:45pm, Stonewall RCMP attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a truck believed to be driven by someone without a valid licence.
Police say that the driver ignored RCMP lights and sirens and subsequently continued south on Main Street in Stonewall, before turning down other streets, ignoring stop signs and driving in a dangerous manner. The driver then circled back to Main Street, dropped off a male passenger, and fled. Officers did not pursue due to public safety concerns.
The suspect was soon after identified and a warrant of arrest was issued.
On October 15, Stonewall RCMP and the RCMP East District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST) arrested the male suspect at his residence located on the 100-block of Main Street in Stonewall. While inside the residence, officers noted several power tools that were believed to match those stolen from a construction yard in Stony Mountain earlier in the month. A search warrant was executed the next day and several more power tools, valued in the thousands of dollars, were located on the property and seized by officers.
RCMP report that 32-year-old Brendon Osbak, of Stonewall, is now facing charges of flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, theft over $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000. Osbak was remanded into custody.
