Manitoba Municipal and Northern Relations is reminding Manitobans that clocks will not change this weekend as the province moves to permanent daylight saving time, known as Manitoba Standard Time. The change was made official last month following consultation with Manitobans.
The province has worked with organizations and businesses across a range of sectors, including technology, telecommunications, travel and transportation, health care, agriculture, sports and the arts, to ensure a smooth transition.
Many devices and software systems receive time-zone updates through operating system or software updates. Most modern phones and computers will update automatically. Individuals and organizations should ensure their devices and systems are up to date and contact their service provider if they have questions about specific systems.
Manitobans are also advised to confirm travel departure and arrival times and medical appointment times, and to consider allowing themselves additional time when possible during this transition.
