The Steinbach Arts Council (SAC) is welcoming back a longstanding local tradition as the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (WSO) Holiday Tour returns to Steinbach on Tuesday, December 8, 2026, at 7:30pm at Crossview Church.

Recognized as one of Canada’s premier orchestral organizations, the WSO’s annual holiday tour brings a full professional symphony orchestra to communities across Manitoba. The Steinbach performance will feature a festive program of seasonal favourites, classical works, a special guest narrator, and an audience sing-along.

This year’s concert will feature several local performers alongside the professional orchestra. The Steinbach Youth Chorus will join the WSO on selected pieces, while local student contest winners will take part in the production. The performance will also feature Steinbach Community Outreach Executive Director Myra Gerbrandt as guest narrator.

In support of Steinbach Community Outreach’s work in the community, attendees are encouraged to bring donations of high-demand household essentials, including toilet paper, laundry detergent pods, body wash, and dish soap.

The collaboration between professional musicians and local performers has become a hallmark of the Holiday Tour’s annual Steinbach stop. By creating opportunities for young artists and community members to perform alongside established professionals, the event provides valuable artistic experiences while celebrating local talent on the same stage as one of Canada’s leading orchestras.

Bringing acclaimed provincial arts organizations to Steinbach remains an important part of the Steinbach Arts Council’s commitment to enriching the region’s cultural landscape. Partnerships such as the WSO Holiday Tour create opportunities for local artists to gain experience, build connections, and share the stage with professional musicians while giving audiences access to exceptional live performances close to home.

“One of the things that makes this concert so special is the way it brings together professional artists and members of our own community,” said Tara Schellenberg, Performing Arts Coordinator at the Steinbach Arts Council. “Audiences will see local students, the Steinbach Youth Chorus, and Myra Gerbrandt sharing the stage with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. Those opportunities are incredibly valuable for emerging performers, and they create a concert experience that feels uniquely connected to Steinbach while showcasing the exceptional artistic talent we have here at home.”
