A 20-year-old man has died after the vehicle he was a passenger in was struck by a cement truck on Highway 52 in Steinbach, Manitoba.

On Friday, March 16, 2018, at 12:20pm, officers from the Steinbach RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 52 and Industrial Road in the City of Steinbach.

Police investigators have determined that an eastbound vehicle, being driven by a 46-year-old Kleefeld man, along with his 20-year-old son in the passenger seat, was making a left-hand turn onto Industrial Road when it was struck by a westbound cement truck. The truck was driven by a 50-year-old La Broquerie man.

Police say that the occupants of the vehicle were taken to local hospital where the 20-year-old succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the cement truck was not injured.

RCMP report that alcohol and speed are not being considered factors in this collision and seatbelts were in use at the time. Officers from the Steinbach Detachment along with an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continue to investigate this incident.
