An 18-year-old male teen from the Rural Municipality of Dufferin has recently died after the vehicle he was in rolled in a ditch near Carman, Manitoba.

On July 1, 2021, at approximately 2:20am, Pembina Valley RCMP received a report of single-vehicle rollover at a location on Provincial Road 21 West, approximately three kilometres southeast of Carman, Manitoba.

Investigation determined that four males were in a pickup truck traveling north on PR 21W. The truck rolled and landed on the passenger side in the east ditch, catching fire and burning as a result.

Police say that there were four occupants in the pickup truck, all from the RM of Dufferin. The driver, a 19-year-old male, along with the front passenger, an 18-year-old male, were both ejected from the vehicle. The two rear passengers, 19 and 20 years of age, had been able to exit the vehicle with minor injuries.

RCMP report that the front passenger was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver was transported to Winnipeg hospital with serious injuries.

It is believed that alcohol was a factor in the collision. An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist and the RCMP Criminal Collision Investigative Team are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
