Portage la Prairie RCMP recently responded to a serious single-vehicle snowmobile collision in Delta, Manitoba, which police believe was caused in part by alcohol consumption.

A 26-year-old semi truck driver from Winnipeg is facing a number of charges after the semi he was driving collided into an SUV on the Perimeter Highway. The result of the impact caused a chain reaction of collisions.

The Manitoba government is partnering with organizations representing Manitoba physicians and pharmacists and their members to prepare for the province’s vaccine rollout of new vaccines once they are approved for use in Canada.

After safely implementing modest changes to public health orders to slowly reopen the economy, Manitoba’s COVID-19 curve continues to bend in the right direction, Premier Brian Pallister and Dr. Brent Roussin, Manitoba’s chief provincial health officer, announced today, noting the province is considering further loosening some restrictions, while continuing to prioritize the needs of the health care system and protecting Manitobans from the risks of COVID-19 and new variants.

The Manitoba government is taking a number of steps to ensure additional supports are available to Manitobans who rely on social services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To date, 43,318 doses of vaccine have been administered including 32,852 first doses and 10,466 second doses. As of Feb. 2, Manitoba remains second in the country in the number of people who have received two doses of vaccine and are fully protected against COVID-19, at 759 per 100,000.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 6.9 per cent provincially and 3.9 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on February 3, 2021, 126 new cases of the virus have been identified. However, one case has been removed due to a data correction. This brings the net-new number of cases today to 125 and the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 29,858.

The Manitoba government is extending the provincewide state of emergency to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and further protect Manitobans, Infrastructure Minister Ron Schuler, minister responsible for the Manitoba Emergency Measures Organization, announced.

A total of 159 warnings and 56 tickets were issued for the week of Jan. 25 to 31 including 42 $1,296 tickets to individuals for various offences and 14 tickets to individuals for failure to wear a mask in indoor public places.
