With the warmer weather upon us, many Manitobans are eager to get outside and enjoy the outdoors which may include riding off-road vehicles (ORVs). The Manitoba RCMP wants to remind operators of the laws of ORVs to ensure a safe ride.

Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure is reminding motorists to be safe, obey road closures and do not attempt to drive through flooded areas or across overtopped or damaged bridges.

Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre is monitoring a potential severe weather system, that began Thursday, could bring 20 to 50 millimetres (mm) of rain to much of southern and central Manitoba over the weekend. The forecast rain will impact flows and levels in most rivers and creeks with the highest impact likely in western and southeast Manitoba.

Red River Co-op has announced news of their food waste reduction program, first of its kind in their market. The co-op partnered with Compost Winnipeg, and the local chapters of Leftovers food rescue and Loop to divert over 540,000 kg of food since the program’s inception in May 2021.

Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre is issuing an overland flood warning for a portion of southwest Manitoba and the southeast corner of the province. An overland flood watch for all of southern and central Manitoba remains in effect. A flood warning is also issued for Dauphin Lake.

Manitoba Environment, Climate and Parks continues to advise all provincial park and campground visitors to carefully check and monitor conditions before heading to provincial parks this spring as some campgrounds and trails are closed to help protect the health and safety of Manitobans.
