The Manitoba government has announced that it is extending the Healthy Hire Manitoba Program to Nov. 15, and the application deadline to Oct. 30, 2021.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is warning the public about ongoing email, web, text messages and telephone scams in which people posing as officials from the CBSA are asking for payment or personal information, including Social Insurance Number (SIN).

Today’s five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 3.4 per cent provincially and 1.5 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on October 7, 2021, 329 new cases of the virus have been identified since Monday: 102 cases on Tuesday, Oct. 5; 95 cases on Wednesday, Oct. 6; and 132 cases today.

Improvements are coming to Hecla/Grindstone Provincial Park with new projects to be supported year after year, thanks to a generous donation of $1.58 million from the estate of Cheryle D. Christensen and the Manitoba’s new Provincial Parks Endowment Fund.

Manitoba is expanding its recommendations on third doses of the COVID-19 vaccine today to include individuals who have only received a viral vector vaccine, such as two doses of AstraZeneca or a single dose of the Janssen vaccine and health-care personnel who have direct contact with patients, residents or clients.

Education Minister Cliff Cullen announced that nominations are now being accepted for the 2021-22 Manitoba’s Excellence in Education Awards to recognize achievements in education.

By choosing to become fully immunized, 17 Manitobans have protected themselves against COVID-19 and also won cash and scholarship prizes totaling $950,000 in the second round of the Vax to Win lottery. To be eligible for the second draw, individuals had to receive their second dose of vaccine on or before Sept. 6.

Manitoba is now allowing the COVID-19 vaccine to be given at the same time as other vaccines. Previously, individuals had to wait 14 or 28 days in between doses of different vaccines, depending on which was received first. This change is consistent with updated guidance from the National Advisory Committee on Immunization on Sept. 28.

Today’s five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 3.7 per cent provincially and 1.5 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on October 4, 2021, 324 new cases of the virus have been identified since Friday: 121 cases on Saturday, Oct. 2; 120 cases on Sunday, Oct. 3; and 83 cases today.

Manitoba Agriculture and Resource Development advises that conservation officers are continuing enforcement to protect Manitoba’s natural resources, including compliance checks for fisheries, addressing illegal hunting and additional officers are now in the field.
