The Manitoba government has released its return plan for Kindergarten to Grade 12 students to classrooms on September 7. Schools are expected to open with near normal operations.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 2.1 per cent provincially and 1.8 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on August 5, 2021, 54 new cases of the virus have been identified since Tuesday: 17 cases on Wednesday, Aug. 4, and 37 cases today. Six cases have been removed due to data correction, bringing the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 57,739.

Selkirk RCMP are reporting that an arrest has been made in connection to a recent search of a local residence. The search resulted in the seizure of drugs and multiple weapons.

The Manitoba government is issuing a ministerial order under The Environment Act to begin spraying for adult mosquitoes with DeltaGard 20EW because of high numbers of adult Culex tarsalis mosquitoes and evidence of infection with West Nile virus (WNV). The order will cover the Rural Municipality of West St. Paul and the City of Winnipeg.

All Manitoba supersites are open and offering walk-in and appointment-based vaccinations, with adjusted clinic hours. All people aged 12 and up are now eligible for their first or second dose. The date of the second appointment must be at least 28 days after the first vaccination.

The province has announced that the current rates for personal care services will remain unchanged for the upcoming 2021-22 year.

As of 9:30am on August 3, 2021, 101 new cases of the virus have been identified since Friday: 27 cases on Saturday, July 31; 34 cases on Sunday, Aug. 1; 18 cases Monday, Aug 2 and 22 cases today. Three cases have been removed due to data correction, bringing the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 57,691.

The province will implement new public health orders and guidance on Aug. 7, one month earlier than forecast. The announcement was made while vaccine uptake in southern Manitoba continues to be at dangerously low levels.

The General Manager of Manitoba Pork is calling for action to address the invasion of Manitoba by wild boar before it passes the point of possible control as it has with other non-native invasive species like dandelions and zebra mussels.

The province has ordered the evacuation of the Davidson Lake cottage subdivision, located in Nopiming Provincial Park by 4 p.m. on August 2. The Manitoba Wildfire Service and Manitoba Parks and Protected Spaces Branch advise that a large fire in northwest Ontario near the Manitoba border (Kenora 051) continues to advance west toward the Manitoba border and in to eastern Manitoba.
