First confirmed human case of West Nile virus reported in province

Manitoba Health is reporting the first confirmed human case of West Nile virus (WNV) in 2023, along with three other probable WNV cases currently under investigation.

Mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus collected from West St. Paul RM

Manitoba Health reports that Culex tarsalis mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus (WNV) were collected from the Rural Municipality of West St. Paul during the week of June 18 to 24. This is the first mosquito pool that has tested positive in Manitoba this season.
