The Manitoba Wildfire Service (MWS) reports large areas of very high-to-extreme fire danger persist throughout the province and human activity continues to significantly contribute to Manitoba’s current wildfire situation.

Due to the rapidly spreading wildfires and extreme fire conditions, Manitoba remains in a provincewide state of emergency (SOE).

Manitoba Wildfire Service (MWS) advises that the majority of the province has a high fire danger, with the northwest corner having an extreme fire danger. Forest fuels remain dry in the southeast corner and northwest.

While the wildfires in Nopiming and Whiteshell provincial parks remain out of control, Manitoba Parks advises more progress has been made, allowing for an additional area in the northern Whiteshell to reopen.

The Manitoba Wildfire Service (MWS) advises that fire danger continues to be moderate in most of the province, with the far northwest and eastern areas having a high fire danger.

The Manitoba Wildfire Service advises that a complete fire ban for the entire burn permit area went into effect Thursday, May 22 at 8am. These restrictions are in place due to wildfire danger levels and ongoing human caused wildfires across the province.

While the wildfire along the Ontario border and inside Whiteshell Provincial Park remains out of control, Manitoba Parks is advising progress has been made, permitting the reopening of select areas in the park that are a safe distance away from the wildfire.
