Manitoba Finance’s Taxation Special Investigations Unit (SIU), working in conjunction with the RCMP, the Ontario Ministry of Finance, Ontario Provincial Police and Quebec Provincial Police recently seized 470,500 contraband cigarettes and 2,000 cigars.

Manitoba Finance’s Taxation Special Investigations Unit has seized 112,700 contraband cigarettes following an investigation into their sale.

Following an investigation into the importation of illegal cigarettes from Ontario into Manitoba, members of the Manitoba Finance Taxation Special Investigations Unit and the Winnipeg Police Service seized 810,000 contraband cigarettes.

On April 12, 2017, at approximately 4:20pm, the RCMP Roving Traffic Unit conducted a traffic stop on Highway 1, approximately eight kilometres east of Deacon’s Corner.
