Manitoba Pork is encouraging pork producers and their service providers to step up their attention to biosecurity in the wake of the latest confirmed case of PED.

Manitoba’s Chief Veterinary Officer says quick action in identifying the province’s latest case of Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea will help limit any potential for neighboring farms to become infected.

The Veterinary Counsel with the Canadian Pork Council says the return to more moderate winter temperatures is making efforts to maintain biosecurity to contain the risk of spreading Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea much easier.

Pork producers are being reminded the risk of exposure to Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea is likely to increase with the onset of colder weather.
