A large poultry barn at the Hillside Hutterite colony, in the RM of Elton, was destroyed by fire earlier this week.
On March 23, 2011, at approximately 12pm, Blue Hills Area RCMP, as well as the Brandon Fire Department, responded to a poultry barn fire at the Hillside Hutterite colony, situated in the RM of Elton, approximately 10 miles Northeast of Brandon.
A large poultry barn, which contained approximately 8,000 chickens, was completely destroyed in the fire.
No one was injured in the fire and estimates of the damages, including lost poultry, will be in excess of $500,000.
Blue Hills area RCMP in conjunction with the Office of the Fire Commissioner, continue to investigate the cause of the blaze.
