City of Steinbach employees are busy installing the new garage sale notice board today.
The notice board, measuring 22 feet wide and 10 feet high, is being erected near the community gardens on Elmdale Street, just east of the TG Smith Centre. This centralized location for advertisement of community garage sales is intended to replace the use of signs on boulevards, which are often distracting and dangerous for traffic reasons. It is anticipated that the notice board will be complete and ready for use early next week.
Permits are not required for garage and craft sales in Steinbachs residential areas as long as no more than two sales events are held on the premises in any calendar year; the duration of the event does not exceed four consecutive days; and the event only occurs during daylight hours. Signs may be placed on private property with permission of the property owner. Please ensure signs advertising the sale are placed no sooner than one day before the sale and are removed at the end of the sale.
