Cory McArthur joins CCC as vice-president, Market Development.

Cory McArthur has joined the Canola Council of Canada (CCC) as vice-president, Market Development, marking a new phase in the evolution of the organization.

McArthur will lead the CCC’s newly-formed Market Development team which brings together canola oil, seed and meal marketing into one department. Previously the CanolaInfo program, which focuses on oil promotion, and the meal utilization activities were in two different departments. His appointment is effective May 30, 2011.

“This realignment positions us to focus all of our efforts toward achieving our Growing Great 2015 target of 15 million tonnes of sustainable production and demand,” says CCC president JoAnne Buth. “Cory has a strong commitment to canola, and to the businesses and associations that drive the industry. His marketing background is a great fit with the CCC.”

McArthur was raised in rural northeast Saskatchewan and received a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan. He has fifteen years of marketing experience in Canadian and global agriculture.

“I am excited and proud to join the Canola Council of Canada,” says Cory. “The canola industry is a phenomenal success story and I believe I can contribute to its continued growth.”

Prior to joining the Canola Council of Canada, Cory worked for Monsanto Canada in a senior management position in the seed trait and crop protection businesses, and most recently was the marketing and sales manager with FarmLink Marketing Solutions.

McArthur’s appointment follows the retirement of Dave Hickling, vice-president Utilization and the departure of Robert Hunter, who was responsible for CanolaInfo. During the past several months, the CCC has hired and repositioned staff in order to support the realigned organization.
