On June 20, 2011, at about 2:45pm, Powerview RCMP as well as local emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene of a fatal workplace accident in the RM of Victoria Beach, Manitoba.
Investigation revealed that Michael Mooney, a 23-year-old male fron Winnipeg, was working with three other males attempting to jack up a cottage structure. RCMP report that Mooney was underneath the frame of the cottage with two other co-workers, at which time the structure began to slide and collapse, pinning Mooney under the structure.
Mooney was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. RCMP report that the two other co-workers were not injured in the mishap.
Investigators from Manitoba Labour, Workplace Safety and Health are assisting with the investigation.
The investigation continues.
