On July 22, 2011, at about 6:30pm, Selkirk RCMP as well as local Emergency Services were dispatched to the scene of a collision between a motorcycle and passenger vehicle on Highway 8 near Petersfield Road in the RM of St. Andrews.
Initial investigation indicates that a 2010 Ford Focus driven by a 63-year-old woman from Petersfield,was traveling northbound on Highway 8 and slowed down to make a left turn (west) at Petersfield Road when she was struck from behind by a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle. The 22-year-old male motorcycle operator from Winnipeg, was thrown from his vehicle as a result of the collision. He was later transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Alcohol is not considered to be a factor and the investigation is continuing.
