Drive One 4 UR Community program

Drive One 4 UR Community program will yield much-needed money for new playground structure.

Fairway Ford in Steinbach is bringing Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited’s innovative Drive One 4 UR Community program to the Grunthal community in an effort to raise up to $6,000 for the Grunthal Community Park. For every person who test-drives a Ford vehicle at the park on Sunday, August 14, Fairway Ford and Ford of Canada will donate $20 to the Grunthal Community Park. The funds will go towards a new playground structure.

“We know how important extracurricular and outdoor activities are to our neighbourhood kids and as part of this community, we want to help,” said Ron Loeppky, Dealer Principal at Fairway Ford. “This is why we’re excited to raise money for the community, meanwhile introducing parents, teenagers and other drivers to our high-quality line-up and innovative safety technologies.” The event, which will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. will feature the Ford Focus, Fiesta, Fusion, Escape, Edge, Explorer, F-150 and other available models.

Since the start of Ford’s Drive One 4 UR School and Community programs in 2010, more than 25,000 test-drives at more than 160 events have generated over $460,000 in donations for high schools and organizations in Canada.

In addition to raising much-needed revenue for high school extracurricular activities, the program gives participants the chance to experience Ford’s exciting new vehicles and leading safety technologies, including:

• MyKey™, a system that allows parents to limit a vehicle’s top speed and audio volume to encourage safe driving behaviour in teens;

• SYNC®, the fully integrated, in-vehicle voice-activated communications and entertainment system with 911 Assist™, helps drivers keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road;

• Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®) with Cross Traffic Alert, which uses radar to check the blind spot and helps notify the driver of approaching traffic when backing out of a parking spot;

• ActiveParkAssist, a technology that helps drivers position the vehicle for parallel parking and then steer it into a parking spot without touching the steering wheel.

As well, participants get a chance to take a look and test drive Ford’s exciting new cars, including the new Ford Fiesta.

The all-new Ford Fiesta brings an expressive, vibrant design, sharp reflexes and 15 key features and technologies, including Ford SYNC® giving it the safety, convenience and connectivity usually found in vehicles costing much more. With a responsive 1.6-liter I-4 engine, advanced PowerShift six-speed automatic transmission and electric power-assisted steering (EPAS), Fiesta delivers best-in-class fuel economy on the highway.

To participate, please visit Grunthal Community Park, 25146 RD 26E between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2011.

Participants must be 18 or older and have a valid driver’s license. There is a limit of one test-drive per household.
