RCMP have laid charges in connection with two fires that occurred in Berens River last week.

Berens River RCMP Detachment, RCMP Winnipeg Major Crime Unit and investigators from the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner continue to investigate the fire of a community Northern Store as well as the local Adult Education Building in Berens River.

It is believed that the fires at both the Berens River Northern Store and the local Adult Education building were deliberately set.

RCMP have now charged two Berens River residents in connection with the two fires of August 29th.

20-year-old Harold Peter McKay and a 17-year-old youth are each facing two counts of arson to property. Both have been remanded into custody and will be appearing in Winnipeg on September 6, 2011.
