Open Farm Day

Manitoba's second annual Open Farm Day will be held on Sunday, September 18 throughout Manitoba.

Farmers are ready to welcome the public to spend a day on their farms during Manitoba’s second annual Open Farm Day on Sunday, September 18.

Open Farm Day is an opportunity to learn more about farm products, watch demonstrations, take tours and ask questions about Manitoba farms and farm life. This year, there are over 40 farm families who are showcasing agriculture in the province.

“We encourage everyone to take advantage of this special event to experience how Manitoba farmers are working to produce our food,” said Doug Chorney, KAP President.

Visitors can plan their routes using the Open Farm Day guide map which is available on KAP’s website at www.kap.mb.ca. Routes can be chosen based on location, or the type of farms visitors want to learn more about.

“The farms participating in Open Farm Day will offer activities that people of all ages will enjoy, and the hope is that visitors will walk away with facts and ideas about agriculture that they didn’t know before,” said Chorney.

Some of the activities offered include viewing farm animals up close, touring barns, milking demonstrations, wagon rides, and buying local products.

Plan to attend Open Farm Day on Sunday, September 18 and experience agriculture in Manitoba.
