On March 7, 2009 at about 9:30 a.m., Carman area RCMP received a 911 call to a residence in the Village of Thornhill in the RM of Stanley.

The caller, who appeared mentally disturbed, also indicated that he was in possession of a firearm and police would be met with resistance. A short while later, RCMP were made aware that several shots were fired on the property.
