On November 17, 2011, just after 3pm, Oxford House RCMP were dispatched to the scene of a fatal collision in Oxford House, Manitoba, involving a school bus and pedestrian.
Initial investigation indicates that a student had gotten off the school bus at a residence in Oxford house and was subsequently run over by the school bus as it drove away.
The 43-year-old male driver of the school bus immediately stopped and sought medical assistance.
The student, a 6-year-old girl from Oxford House, was transported to the nursing station were she was pronounced deceased. Her name will not be released.
An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst will be attending to assist with the investigation.
There were no other injuries reported and police continue to investigate.
