On November 25, 2011, Steinbach RCMP and the Steinbach General Investigative Unit, while attending to a report of a breach of recognizance, observed a man known to police as a disqualified driver, driving his vehicle.

Police say that the driver attempted to evade police and in doing so failed to stop for a red light where two other vehicles had to take evasive action in order to avoid a collision. The vehicle and driver were located moments later in one of the school parking lots attempting to hide from police.

The driver was identified as 31-year-old Gerald Allen Blair of the RM of Hanover. He was arrested without incident.

Blair has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, driving while disqualified and failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance. He has been remanded in custody and is set to appear in Winnipeg court on Monday November 28, 2011.
