Construction on the expansion of the lagoon in Landmark is nearly complete.

According to the Landmark LUD committee the new lagoon cell will be ready for use in late spring or the early part of summer of this year.

“The majority of the work is complete with the exception of a few deficiencies and some cosmetic work,” the LUD noted. The final pieces include the installment of pipes and the connection of the new addition to the old facility.

It was noted that the project was completed well under the budget at a cost of approximately $456,000. The work was performed by Wiebe Investments of Niverville.

A number of residential, commercial and industrial projects have been on hold until the completion of the new facility.

The RM of Tache was forced to impose a construction moratorium for Landmark and area after the community lagoon reached capacity two years ago.

Once the Landmark lagoon project is complete, the LUD committee of Landmark plans to turn their focus to the community’s water treatment and distribution, in preparation for future upgrades.
