Jeremy Funk new Assistant Professor of Business Administration at Providence.

Providence University College is delighted to announce that Jeremy Funk has agreed to join our faculty this year as a new Assistant Professor of Business Administration.

“Having Jeremy join our faculty is exciting for us,” said Dr. August Konkel, President of Providence, in making the announcement. “He is an experienced business leader. He also brings Christian higher education capabilities as he currently chairs the Board of Governors at Trinity Western University. And he is completing his Doctorate in Strategy at the Asper School of Business. He is exactly whom we need to help us continue to build our Business program.”

In making this decision to come to Providence, Jeremy commented, “I’m looking forward to the opportunity of once again being involved full-time in Christian higher education. We have a tremendous opportunity to work with bright students who want to do well in business, but are also passionate about having their faith be reflected in their everyday business activities. I am excited to make a contribution towards growing a solid business program.”

Jeremy will begin his teaching duties in Providence’s Business Administration program this Fall. He is in the fifth year of his PhD studies at the Asper School of Business working with Dr. Reg Litz where the research focus is on strategy in the family business context. Jeremy’s research interests are in the area of small and medium-sized family business operations and the impact of corporate social responsibility.

“Jeremy brings the ideal combination of business experience and academic rigor to this position,” said Cameron McKenzie, Dean of Providence University College. “He has taught here as an adjunct in the past, and we are looking forward to him joining us full time.”

Bruce Duggan, Director of Providence’s Buller Centre for Business, said, “Having Jeremy come on board will enable us to expand our Business Administration program, enabling us to both deepen our teaching expertise and strengthen our ties to the business community. This is great news.”

Jeremy received his B.A. (Hons) in Business Administration from the Trinity Western University in 1985, and his MBA from the University of Manitoba in 1987.

Following his initial post-secondary studies, Jeremy worked for 12 years as part of Penner Foods, a successful family enterprise in the grocery industry. This was followed by a couple of years overseas in Lithuania at LCC International University as a university administrator and business instructor. He was appointed to the Board of Governors of Trinity Western University in 2004 and elected Chair in 2011.
